Melinda is no fool, and before she was turned in to a statue, she made sure all the wealth she accumulated in her posh gig in the past was invested wisely. Saving a belt of gems for her person, she divided all her goods in to 12 parcels, and sent out twelve of her true-fan gnomes to invest her riches, to await her return to her true time. Some simply stole the goods, some came to bad ends, but one, Darryl the Bearded, made up for them all, and established a complex and lucrative trust for Melinda. With the result that in the present day... Melinda kind of owns a whole country now. A _rich_ country. It used to be known as Darokin, but... well, yeah.
